Many young women fantasize about their wedding day. One of the most significant things they consider is their wedding gown. Most women have very precise ideas about what they want to wear.
And this bride also knew precisely what she wanted to wear…
23-year-old Allie In 2016, she was digging through her grandmother’s cellar when she discovered something really valuable in a waste bag. She knew the moment she saw it that she would one day walk down the aisle in that same gown.
When she became engaged to Timothy Livingwater five years later, she realized it was time to break out the gown. Her grandmother had worn the gown to her own wedding almost 60 years before, and Allie would be wearing it once more.
Allie wore the beautiful outfit on September 25th and couldn’t have been happier! And her grandma was overjoyed, having given Allie her “something old” and “something borrowed” with her clothing.
The dress fit Allie perfectly once it had been professionally cleaned, with no alterations required. Allie’s sole modification was to add a hoop skirt below.
Her grandma was brought to tears as she saw her granddaughter go down the aisle in her bridal gown at Turners Falls.
Allie Livingwater came to Facebook to discuss her wedding and the significance of her bridal gown. She shared a photo of herself and her grandma in the garment to show everyone how it looked. She stated that her wedding would be an occasion she will remember for the rest of her life since it was so meaningful.
Allie has a particular relationship with her grandmother because she has lived with her since she was born. After Allie’s grandma divorced after 38 years of marriage, the family moved in with her. Yet, despite the fact that Allie had never met her grandfather, she felt closer to him while wearing her grandmother’s wedding gown.
Allie’s grandma burst into tears because she never believed her gown would be worn to another wedding, least alone by her grandchildren. She had written it off, believing it would never be used again.
What a lovely tale, and what a touching moment between grandma and granddaughter. I wish everyone has this kind of bond with their grandparents.
