Dick van Dyke has long been regarded as one of Hollywood’s all-time greats.
The actor and dancer seemed to have graced our screens since, well, screens were invented. I have vivid recollections of viewing Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang as a young child. Don’t get me started on Dyke’s iconic performance in Mary Poppins.
Of all, Father Time catches up with us all, and while Dyke looks to have an almost inhuman ability to stay sprightly and active, it’s just wrong to state he’s not getting on in years.
As difficult as it may be to believe, Dick van Dyke is now 96 years old. Simply said, if I can look and act like him when I’m 96, I’ll know I’m doing something right.
Dyke was photographed exiting a restaurant in Malibu, California, on Thursday, according to the New York Post.

Moreover, he took the opportunity to tell everyone that he’s “simply thrilled to be here.”
Dyke, who began his distinguished career in the 1940s, was later seen conducting errands, including picking up a self-tanning spray from a nearby store.
The iconic actor was dressed casually in a light gray pullover and blue jeans. According to the Post, he is frequently spotted in Malibu, where he lives with his wife, Arlene Silver, 50, and trains at a nearby gym.
In fact, Van Dyke recently told Closer Weekly that he goes to the gym three times a week, which is no small effort for a guy who is closer to 100 than 90.
In 2019, he stated, “I’ve always been an exerciser and still am… I go swimming and work out. They recommend to stay moving when you’re my age. Set me down on solid ground, and I’ll begin tapping.”
Van Dyke also complimented his companion, Silver, for assisting him in remaining young.
“I often forget that we’re performing a tremendous experiment here – 46 years’ difference. And to some extent, we work on that,” he stated.
“There has to be some comprehension. Determine which previous behaviors no longer serve you. It takes some getting used to and fitting in, but that’s part of the pleasure.”
“He is the most ideal human being,” Silver stated. I’ve never met somebody who was that cheerful, real, and great. “He’s like a joyful pill.”
I, for one, am relieved that Dick van Dyke is still alive and well. He has to be one of my all-time favorite actors!
