MAN CREATES A SANCTUARY FOR ORPHANED KANGAROOS WHOSE MOTHERS HAVE BEEN HIT BY CARS

We regularly read about people dedicating their lives to save animals by building shelters, but this is the first time we hear (and write) about a refuge dedicated just to orphaned kangaroos.

Chris “Brolga” Barns established this in Alice Spring, Australia, after working as a bird keeper in Western Australia and a zoo keeper in the Northern Territory.

He established his own refuge to aid kangaroos whose moms were injured by automobiles, and he currently cares for 28 of them. He typically rescues newborn kangaroos from the side of the road while they are still in their mother’s pouch.

Fortunately, Chris received several gifts that enabled him to pursue his passion.
