Paralyzed Dog Returned 4 Times Is Finally Adopted By a Family Who Understands Him

Every dog in a shelter deserves a caring family. But occasionally, especially if the pet has a condition, it might be challenging to match the two.

The Shepherd mix, Bandit, is wheelchair-bound and paralyzed from the waist down. He has been adopted and returned on four separate occasions since caring for dogs like him is difficult.

Bandit is a component of the Gwinnett Jail Dogs Program in Georgia, where prisoners are given responsibility for canine training and maintenance. The dog’s adorable and amiable nature has won him the love of a lot of people. Everyone in the program wanted him to experience the happiness of having a forever home and a loving family even though he would undoubtedly be missed.

Sadly, all four of his adoptive parents took him back. Bandit was a special needs dog who required a little extra love and care, but regrettably, it was all too much for them to manage. Before the Riders arrived, it looked as though the dog would never find the ideal household.

Bandit was originally introduced to Darrell and Sue Rider via a Facebook post, and they knew in their hearts that they would be his parents as soon as that happened. The pair didn’t feel scared by the additional attention he would require because Darrell also uses a wheelchair.

The most remarkable aspect about Bandit, according to Darrell, is that he and I both have a similar form of paralysis and rely on wheelchairs to move around. Sue and I understood what Bandit needed because we have experience living in wheelchairs. Additionally, we experienced considerably stronger ties.

In order to learn everything they could about caring for Bandit, Darrell and Sue contacted the Gwinnett Jail Dogs Program. They wanted to be good parents to Bandit. Following a month of discussions and thorough deliberation, both parties decided they were the ideal match. They set up a meeting with Bandit to finally get to know him.

Darrell claimed that Bandit was “exactly like him,” and the program’s volunteer, Lori Cronin, said that they wanted to give him a home where he would be accepted and well-cared for.

Darrell and Sue immediately realized they were destined to become Bandit’s new family after their initial meeting. They checked with his handlers and the dog’s veterinarian to make sure their home was prepared before taking the canine inside.

It wasn’t simple saying goodbye to Bandit. His hoarse bark and the way he goes up to people for treats would be missed by everyone in the prison facility. Despite the sad departure, they were all ecstatic that the longtime resident had finally found his forever home after waiting for so long.

Bandit has adapted to living with the Riders so well that it seems as though he has lived there his entire life. Darrell and Sue lavish him with affection and care, and they have many adventures planned for him.

Bandit is doing fantastic and adjusting to his new family and surroundings better than we could have anticipated, according to Darrell. We, as Bandit’s family, are overjoyed to have him in our life.

Bandit is finally in the arms of individuals who genuinely accept him, making the lengthy wait more than worthwhile.
