Tim Tebow, the former University of Florida Heisman Trophy winner and current starter for the Denver Broncos, recently accepted the Sports Impact Award at the K-LOVE Fan Awards.
Tebow accepted the trophy with a passionate speech about caring for the most vulnerable people and proclaiming Jesus Christ to be the only MVP.
Tebow began his address by thanking the audience and the presenters before cracking a couple of jokes about the presenters, stating, “Thank you so much. Let’s be honest, Matthew: you’ve never considered running a marathon. And, regrettably, your shorts showed it.”
“Guys, it’s truly an honor to be here, especially among so many icons and inspirations,” he concluded. To be able to sit alongside Toby Mack and Chris Tomlin, as well as so many other champions of the faith, is an honor.”

“When I was 15 years old, I had the opportunity to meet a youngster in the jungles of the Philippines who was born with his feet backwards,” Tebow said after thanking K-LOVE. As a result, his people saw him as cursed, unimportant, and a discard. But that day, I realized he wasn’t a throwaway to God, and he certainly wasn’t a throwaway to me.
“And, you know, up until then, and even so many times after that in my life, I’ve been pursuing dreams to be the greatest, to win championships, to win MVPs, to try to be the best,” Tebow concluded. And there’s nothing wrong with that, but eventually, on that day and for many days following, God opened my eyes to what it means to be an MVP, to be the most important player.
“Because eventually that day He affected my heart. “The MVP I should be chasing is the world’s most vulnerable individuals,” he proclaimed.
“Because, ultimately, there is only one MVP,” the Heisman Trophy winner said. And He died on a cross in order to save humanity. And He has told us to go defend the weak, safeguard the poor, and seek out those in need.”
“And let me tell you something, there are a lot of people throughout the world that are struggling. That indicates we have a major job ahead of us. Let’s get this task done. “God bless you people,” Tebow said.
During a speech at the March for Life in 2021, Tebow mentioned one of the most needy groups of individuals.
Tebow began his address by sharing the tale of his mother’s pro-life decision to have him despite countless people pressuring her to get an abortion.
“I’m very thankful my mom gave me a chance at life,” he added, recalling the tale. But because of her pro-life narrative, I now have the opportunity to share mine. But only because my mother gave me the opportunity.”
“I do think every single life counts to God,” Tebow said later in his remarks. You know who else I believe stood and continues to stand for life? Is Jesus, our Saviour. “As Jesus says in John, ‘I come to give life, and abundant life.'”
“See, he was on a mission,” Tebow continued. “For us, that mission was a rescue mission. That mission was to come down to earth, go to the cross, vanquish death, and conquer the world. That was his task.”
In 2020 during a speech at the Kansans for Life Valentine’s Day luncheon , Tebow again remarked,” It truly does mean a lot more than winning the Super Bowl. When you look back and see people talking about you, you wonder, ‘Oh my my, what are you going to be renowned for?’ “Will you say Super Bowl or we rescued a lot of babies?”
He also stated why he refers to Kansans for Life’s work as a rescue mission, saying, “You know why we call it a rescue mission? Because saying that puts a temporal limit on it.”
“When was the last time you heard about a rescue mission in a month or a few years? No, a rescue mission implies right now,” he explained. “It creates a sense of urgency. It states that we must go not because it is our time, but because it is their time. I must maintain a feeling of urgency because, while I may have time, they do not.”
